The Pharmacy Plan has set out an ambitious programme of reform for pharmacy and as part of this agenda the Government has proposed piloting Local Pharmaceutical Services (LPS) as an alternative framework by which pharmacy services can be commissioned and delivered.

Webstar Health provides expert advice and support to PCTs and potential providers seeking to develop and implement LPS Pilots. Having a good grasp of the Department of Health's guidance and the process and issues that affect implementation is crucial for success.

Webstar Health is actively working in developing LPS Pilots and for the first wave of submissions in June 2002 we worked with four PCTs to submit proposals for preliminary approval on their behalf. Furthermore Webstar Health supported the Department of Health in disseminating information about LPS prior to publication of the guidance.

Webstar Health can help you by providing tailored advice, organising LPS Workshops for PCTs and providing PCT Support throughout the process.

Webstar Health has been actively involved in developing local pharmaceutical services pilots.

The Department of Health's Local Pharmaceutical Services Pilots Implementation Team needed to quickly disseminate information to Primary Care Trusts.

Drawing upon Webstar Health's experience and work in the North West of England in undertaking pharmaceutical needs assessments in preparation for LPS Pilots, four regional seminars were organised attended by over 240 people from PCTs around the country. The seminars provided an opportunity for the Department of Health's team to explain progress, while gathering important feedback from participants.
